This is what is going on in my garden June 2023!

Month’s To Do List:

  • Weed
  • Keep squirrels out of garden beds (they are digging up my seedlings and eating the roots)

Harvesting:

  • Blackberries
  • Garlic
  • Green beans
  • Tomatoes

Planted:

  • Broccoli
  • Cantaloupe
  • Corn
  • Jicama
  • Kale
  • Lettuce
  • Okra
  • Onions
  • Peppers (sweet and hot)
  • Swiss Chard
  • Tomatoes
  • Watermelon
  • Winter Melon

What am I doing?:

  • Weeding
  • Pruning
  • Added scat mat to raised garden beds to keep from losing more plants
  • Planted our nectarine tree

Musings:

  • Enjoying watching the life cycle of the Gulf Fruitily butterflies on my passion fruit vine
  • The amaryllis blooming this month were beautiful
  • So discouraged!
    • Rats have destroyed my corn (video below).  I am hoping to possibly have 3 corn that might have been pollinated enough to finish growing.  However, they ate all the husk hanging off the corn, so not sure it can continue fully developing, guess I will find out.  They are also eating my strawberries, even though there is peppermint just underneath the hanging baskets of strawberries.
    • The scat mat is not keeping the squirrels fully out of the garden beds (video below).  It is working partially, but they are still digging as well as uprooting some seedlings.
